so, it really has been a stellar weekend. and a long one at that.
i suppose it all started thursday night. i got drunk, temporarily by myself. i used the time to reminisce(is that how you spell that?) and type up a few emails to freaks on my top 5 shows and top 5 gatherings. it was super. i also talked to shellie for a long time, and all i can say is - DAMN i can't wait til that girl gets here. moving here is going to be such a positive experience for her as well as for me.
then megs and aaron came home and i was mid-gorge dvd. some dancing ensued and then we went on a little adventure and came back home to watch more gorgeity. megs and i were ridiculous. we are ridiculous. we're crack heads. more on that later.
so then friday, i lounged around with aaron for the first part of the day. we walked to whole fizzles so i could hit up the ATM before my journey south to go see O.A.R. in portland.
(it's our lives, it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember we're alive for the first time, it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember we're alive for the last time, it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember to live before you die, it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember that our lives are such a short time, it's hard to remember, it's hard to remember when it takes such a long time, it's hard to remember)
sorry, that was too important not to note.
so the trip to portland. well, as usual, none of us had tickets. well first off, a little background for those of you who have no idea. i LOVE o.a.r. not as some fleeting fancy or casual fling. they are absolutely up there at the top with dmb and modest mouse and i think their progression as a band is phenomenal and their way of looking at life is right on point and i adore adore adore seeing them live. they feed my soul. that said - this particular venue in portland they were playing at is my favorite place to see them. the energy is always through the roof and the dancing that ensues is very heart healthy.
the drive down rocked. the dinner and drinks before hand made me remember so many times before in the same area of that city and in that restaurant. all such kick ass memories.
and then we went to try and find tickets. and it was...well, impossible. long story short short short, we didn't get them. but it was so much fun trying. total adventure, heckling scalpers and singing songs and cheering(the latter two things only done by me). and we ended up having such a fun night. it was me, mel, kevin and erin and we ended up at some bar playing pool and drinking ridiculous amounts.
on our pizza-laden walk back to the car, we strolled behind the venue and ran into mark. i dig this guy. he's very humble and totally endulged our drunk asses. chit chatted with him for a bit, took a picture(see below) and went home. it was a late night and it left me smiling all the live long day on saturday.
so then last night. last night megs and i decided we needed to go out. maybe be social. possibly be crackheads. we never know how insane our nights will end up until the very end, when she's usually passed out or puking and i'm...probably stripping down in some open space in our house.
in any case, we took the bus to wallingford. which isn't that far at all, but whatever. after a DELICIOUS dinner at our neighborhood pub and a viewing of "when harry met sally," we ended up at a restaurant that had some serious salsa dancing going on. i was amazed and i definitely need to learn how to move like that. i am all about dancing as foreplay, and this beats bootie shakin' hoochie dancin' to hell and back.
after rejecting some poor boys who wanted to dance, we decided to walk down to an irish pub to do some carbombs. we sat down at the bar, the bartender came over and...POOF! i fell in love. oh man, i couldn't stop staring at this man. oofda kaloofda, he totally fit the mold for guys i'm attracted to. there is this certain type of guy who has this look...gets me every time. i should find pictures of each of them so you can see how frighteningly similar they are. in any case, i love him.
so then we decided to go catch the bus. but we were early so we just started walking. it's about 20 blocks to our house, and these neighborhood blocks are small. and then...well, no bus was ever caught.
about 2 blocks in we found a sign that said "FREE" next to a chair and vacuum. we need a vacuum. so we decided to...well, we had to go find an area for megs to take care of some business, and then we went back and got the vacuum so that it could be the loud, banging soundtrack to our lives as we pushed it along the sidewalk. people must've hated us.
luckily, when i had to pee, we came across a honeybucket outside a house that was being remodled or something. convenient.
i wish i could convey the funinnes that is two drunk girls pushing a vacuum through a neighborhood at 1 in the morning. iwas making it do jumps off of curbs and stuff like that. the whole bottom pannel fell off at some point. you can view this below.
about 5 blocks or so from home, we decided to stop at my favorite dive bar, and walked up just in time for last call. and two shots of jager. the guy standing next to me made some comment about...something to do with agressiveness. and i didn't know if he was referring to me ordering shots the second we walked in or him offering me the seat next to him. so i just patted his knee and squeezed his arm, took the shot, and left. we had the vacuum parked outside, and it's not safe there after all.
the next chapter saw us deciding we needed flowers. there's dafodills fucking everywhere. so i pulled a bunch out...bulbs attached(again, see below pictures). got some strays, a big clump of flowers from a tree.
a few days ago my downstairs neighbor and his girlfriend decided to plant some stuff in the planters at the front of our house. this was much needed, cuz our duplex is butt ugly. i decided the dafodills would make a perfect addition, so when we got home(about an hour and a half after we set out), i dug a hole and stuck 'em in there. i don't think he was too happy about this, cuz i definitely got a discreet lecture out there on the street. don't think he was too amused when i told him if he gave me a cigarette i'd take them out.
ah well.
the escapades we get into are just so amusing. and those are just blanket details. the things we sing and dancing we do along the way is totaly hidden camera worthy.
