i'm still totally stuck on this whole mayer blowing up thing. it weirds me out that i've seen "no such thing" on mtv2 twice in the past 24 hours, and it's a "buzzworthy" vid on mtv. i did enjoy reading this though. in a lot of ways, he says some of the things i was trying to talk to mel about yesterday.

speaking of mel(well, not really), we went ot this show last night. shortbus...it's got sublime's bassist, and they do mainly lbda covers and i think some original stuff. could these guys have been any more fucked up? i have never witnessed anything like it(and yes, i am fairly innocent when it comes to seeing rockstars so hopped up on godknowswhat that they aren't even really up there.). we left early because mel had to be at work at 7 today, and they didn't go on until 11.30, but...man. it was almost depressing! there was this guy up there who was tripping me out. he was like their "security" or something. he had no shirt on, and a huge "skinny boy beer guy" and was covered in tattoos. long blonde ponytail with a backwards hat on. anyway...this guy was just not at all even slightly with it. his eyes were blank and black. he wuold perch in the middle of the stage, just eyeing the crowd, making no facial expressions what so ever. then he'd jump down into the crowd and stand on the edge of the mosh pit or in the middle, not moving at all. just...standing his ground, scanning his eyes slowly over the crowd.

and what an interesting crowd it was. it never fails to amaze me how stylized each and every one of the seattle crowds are. each event draws a completely different scene, but it is so *clear* just which scene it is. i love watching it. jack johnson was by far the strangest mix of people i've seen yet.

i really think i need to email one of my professors about doing something with this...obsession i have with crowds. especially by bonnaroo time because that is going to be the most interesting display of collective behavior and "social movements" seen in a long time. there has got to be some kind of project i can do or something.

i really need people to talk to this stuff about. i mean, mel will listen to it, but i want feedback, dammit! i started talking about some kind of sociology thing the other day to lisa, and her eyes got really big, and she said "wow. i always forget how smart you are about stuff like this." but i know...its difficult to listen when you could care less.

so for today...it's errand running time. i should really really really clean because i know i'm not going to want to tomorrow and my mom comes on thursday, but i don't know. gotta be over at mel and lisa's around 5 for mike the fly boy's going away party. of course, i have a drinking challenge to contend with. but he wants to do whiskey and i want tequilla, so we'll see what happens.

fuck. i need to do laundry like none other.

this is the last weekend i'll be home until the last weekend in may. and leslie and maggie will be here then, so that doesn't even really count. that seems insane to me.

but then again, i'm insane. so i guess it works!
